TAMPA — Dow Electronics has promoted John Yodzis to president and chief operating officer.

“I am extremely excited to be taking over the day-to-day operations of Dow as we continue to grow our organization through the dedication and passion of our great employees and the important long-term customer and vendor relationships we maintain,” he says in a statement.

Yodzis, whose father, Chip Yodzis, founded the Tampa-based firm, joined Dow full time in 2008 as an area sales representative, after a series of jobs with the family owned company while he attended high school and college. While in school, he worked in the company's warehouses, spent time in sales and eventually assumed managerial roles.

Most recently, he worked as a Dow executive vice president overseeing the company's marketing, purchasing and sales divisions.

“John's superb business sense and drive has helped broaden and diversify Dow, and the experiences that he has gained throughout his career will help ensure success in his new role,” says Chip Yodzis, the company's CEO.

Dow, one of the largest independently owned and operated electronics distributors in the Southern U.S., has been in business for nearly six decades. Today, the company maintains seven locations serving Florida, Puerto Rico, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
