Longtime campground industry lobbyist and consultant David Gorin, who helped oversee a redevelopment of an RV park in Manatee County, will be inducted into the RV and Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame.

Gorin helped establish the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds as a voice of the North American campground industry, according to a statement. “I'm really excited about it,” says Gorin, 71, a former New York City teacher who splits his time between Longboat Key and McLean, Va. “It's a good way to cap my career in the campground industry.”

Gorin is nationally known for his pioneering work to transform the fledgling National Association of Campground Owners into the free standing and financially solvent National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, the release adds. Gorin was the association's chief executive from 1987 to 2001.

Gorin has consulted for numerous developers who built high-end RV resorts in Florida and other Sunbelt states. He and a business partner developed Holiday Cove RV Resort in Cortez, a fishing village just east of Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island, in 2007 and 2008. Gorin and a partner are currently working on another new RV project in the southwest Florida.

Gorin will be officially inducted into the National RV and Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame Aug. 7 in Elkhart, Ind.
