Delta Airlines, already one of the leading airlines at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, plans to enhance its seasonal service to the New York City area.

The airline, according to a statement, will add nonstop flights to the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York during the upcoming 2017-2018 season. Daily service will begin Dec. 21, 2017 through Jan. 2, 2018, followed by Saturday-only service through March 31, 2018, the release adds.

The new service will complement Delta's existing year-round daily nonstop service to New York LaGuardia; its multiple year-round daily flights to Atlanta; and its seasonal service to Detroit, which returns Dec. 21, 2017 and will run through April 1, 2018.

In an unrelated announcement, the Federal Aviation Administration recently awarded the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority a $7 million grant for two projects at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
