SARASOTA — Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida named former Sarasota Mayor Mary Anne Servian the council's new chief executive officer.
Servian will start May 2. The council conducted a national search to fill the position through Evergreen Executive Source LLC, according to a press release.
From 1989 to 2010, Servian was managing partner of the business brokerage firm The Servian Group. She was the Sarasota Ballet managing director from 2010 to 2016. Most recently, she was a business broker with Murphy Financial & Business Services. Servian was on the Sarasota City Commission from 2001 to 2007, and served as mayor from 2005 to 2006. She has been a resident of the area since 1997.
“It is indeed an honor to be chosen as CEO of Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida,” says Servian in a statement. “I look forward to working with the volunteers, staff and board of directors to provide girls and young women with outstanding opportunities. It is my goal to implement long-term strategies to make this the best council possible.”
Departing CEO Sue Stewart will stay on until the end of May to assist with the transition. She joined the council in 2010.
