Tangled up in brag

Bradenton-area ophthalmologist Dr. Harris Silverman, founder of The Eye Associates, will have no shortage of things to say if patient small talk turns to bragging about kids.

Silverman's hard-to-top tale is about his son, Brandon Silverman, who attended St. Stephens Episcopal School in Bradenton. Facebook recently acquired a tech company the younger Silverman founded in 2011, a social media software analytics firm called CrowdTangle. Terms of the deal, announced Nov. 11, weren't disclosed.

But Facebook executives heaped praise on Silverman, who graduated from St. Stephens in 1998. Brandon Silverman's brother Derek Silverman, class of 2005 from St. Stephens, also works for CrowdTangle.
