Florida SouthWestern State College, with three campuses in Southwest Florida, named Jeff Stewart provost.

Stewart had been interim provost since February. As provost of the college, Stewart will oversee all academic programs, and he will also oversee the office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, IT, libraries, First Year Experience, the writing and math center and the Registrar's office.

“Dr. Stewart's expertise in academic leadership makes him the ideal fit for FSW,” says FSW President Jeff Allbritten in the statement. “His ability to collaborate effectively with our faculty, school deans and staff throughout the college further enhances the sense of teamwork we so strongly encourage.”

Stewart has more than 20 years experience in higher education, the release adds. Prior to joining FSW, he was associate provost and then the interim vice president for student affairs and enrollment services at Georgia Middle State University in Macon, Ga. He joined FSW in 2012 as vice president of research, technology and accountability.

Formerly known as Edison State College, Florida SouthWestern State College has 22,000 students on campus and online. It has campus Fort Myers, south Naples and Punta Gorda.
