Architect leaves mentor to launch his own firm

MANATEE — After 12 years working with his mentor, architect Joe Kelly has decided to move on and launch his own firm.

The new company, Hive Architects Inc., specializes in residential architecture, interior design and private commercial projects with a focus on regional modernism, a statement says. It is headquartered at 6530 68th St. E., Bradenton.

Kelly's mentor for the past 12 years has been prominent local architect Guy Peterson, the statement says. Kelly focused on residential architecture and design while working with Peterson. His full experience is primarily in design, development and coastal houses and state permitting.
