NAPLES — Bernard Dobranski, founding dean of the Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, has died. Dobranski was 76.

In a statement, school officials say Dobranski was “extremely instrumental in the founding of our law school and in obtaining ABA accreditation.” In addition to Ave Maria, Dobranski, a Naples resident, was the dean of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and the dean of Catholic University's Columbus School of Law.

“His passing is a great loss not only to our law school but also to Catholic Legal Academia as a whole,” adds the statement.

The school has scheduled a mass for the repose of the soul of Dobranski for Friday, April 1 at 12:30 p.m.
