Mortgage giant names chairman, COO

TAMPA — Mortgage banking firm Walter Investment Management Corp. appointed an executive and announced a new board chairman.

Daniel Beltzman, cofounder of New York-based Birch Run Capital Advisors, takes over as chairman of the board of directors, according to a statement. In his role, Beltzman, who joined the board in December, will oversee the investment portfolio. He replaces Mark O'Brien as chairman.

The company also appointed David Schneider to chief operating officer, according to the statement. Schneider has served as executive vice president of Walter Investment since October 2014 and president of Ditech Financial LLC, a subsidiary of Walter Investment, since February.

Tampa-based Walter Investment Management Corp. is a diversified mortgage banking firm that focuses primarily on residential loans. The firm has 5,900 employees.
