SARASOTA — Sarasota County hired Jonathan Evans as one of three assistant county administrators, effective Aug. 22.

Evans, currently the city manager for Haines City in Polk County, will replace Lee Ann Lowery as an assistant county administrator, a statement says. Lowery is set to retire at the end of September.

Evans' public service career began with the City of St. Cloud, where he served as recreation site supervisor, the statement says. His other roles include recreation manager for the town of Celebration and assistant to the city manager in Largo. Evans also teaches public budgeting and finance as an adjunct professor at Polk State College.
