How hot is Sarasota's housing market?

Scorching hot. The North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton one-year house appreciation of 13.21% ranked seventh nationally for increases in one-year house prices, reports the Federal Housing Finance Agency.

Data the FHFA studied for the period ending March 31 confirm the strong rebound in home values continues today. The agency uses home-purchase data as well as mortgage refinances to measure the change in home prices, making it more accurate than transactions only.

Sarasota wasn't the only area of the Gulf Coast with significant housing appreciation. The Cape Coral-Fort Myers one-year house appreciation of 11.81% was No. 15 in the nation.

Separately, the agency ranked Port St. Lucie No. 1 nationwide with 14.68% one-year housing appreciation; Palm Bay-Titusville-Melbourne was 11th with 12.67% one-year appreciation; West Palm Beach-Boca Raton-Delray Beach was 16th with 11.46% appreciation; and Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall was 18th with 11.23%.
