FORT MYERS — Silver Airways started nonstop flights from Fort Myers and Tampa to Nassau, Bahamas.

Silver offers daily nonstop service from Tampa and three flights a week from Fort Myers to Nassau using Saab 340 turbo-prop aircraft. The airline is based in Fort Lauderdale.

“We are looking forward to continuing our commitment to serving travelers by growing our core markets in Florida and the Bahamas,” says Silver Airways President and CEO Sami Teittinen, in a statement.

“One of our key air service development initiatives has been to attract service to the Bahamas and these new flights will directly link our region to this popular travel destination for the very first time,” says Robert Ball, executive director of the Lee County Port Authority, in a statement.

“Nassau has long been a favorite spot for honeymooners, divers and boaters and we're excited to offer this service to TPA's growing list of nonstop international flights,” says Tampa International Airport Vice President of Marketing Chris Minner, in a statement. “Silver has been a great partner in offering easy connectivity to leisure destinations and we're looking forward to expanding that partnership as our travelers' demand for these destinations grows.”
