SARASOTA — Less than three months after launching Hive Architects Inc., founder Joe Kelly has named a partner.

Gwen Leroy-Kelly, Joe's wife and a 24-year industry veteran, joins Hive as a partner and principal, a statement says. Leroy-Kelly spent the past 11 years at Sweet-Sparkman Architects, where she served as a project manager. Her overall experience is in architectural practice, including residential architecture, coastal houses and state permitting, historic preservation and private, civic and commercial projects, the statement says.

In May, Joe Kelly left his job of 12 years working with his mentor, Guy Peterson, to launch Hive Architects. The firm specializes in residential architecture, interior design and private commercial projects with a focus on regional modernism.
