Tech firm ranks top in cloud

NAPLES — A technology research firm ranked Naples-based ACI Worldwide as one of the 20 companies with the biggest sales of internet cloud applications.

Internet research firm Apps Run the World ranked ACI Worldwide as the 16th largest internet cloud vendor with $446.4 million in cloud-based application sales in 2015, a 6.6% increase over 2014.

Naples-based ACI ranked ahead of Intuit and Cisco Systems, ranked 17th and 18th, respectively. The top three companies in the ranking were Salesforce, SAP and Microsoft.

ACI helps 5,100 large banks, retailers and other merchants execute $14 trillion a day in payments. In late 2015, the company announced it plans to expand its international operations by opening a data center in Limerick, Ireland.

ACI has featured prominently in other industry rankings. In 2015, the company ranked among the top 500 in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500. It also ranked 29th in the Business Observer's Gulf Coast 500 last year with 2014 revenues of $1 billion.
