SARASOTA — Wireless communications provider xG Technology has been awarded a new patent “covering an innovative method for enabling cognitive radios to rapidly scan for neighboring wireless channels,” according to a statement.
The patent, “Method to Enable Rapid Scanning by Cognitive Radios,” helps maintain quality of service and an on-the-move cognitive wireless network, the release states.
“The ability of the xMax system to ensure uninterrupted access to voice, data and video services in a variety of deployment scenarios make it an excellent choice for public safety, military and other sectors requiring continuity of communications for their teams,” says xG CEO George Schmitt.
The new patent is one of several moves Sarasota-based xG has made in recent months. Earlier in January, it acquired Mt. Olive, N.J.-based Integrated Microwave Technologies for $3 million. And in December, it received a patent for a new approach to designing wireless networks.
