NAPLES — Collier County Business and Economic Development Director Bruce Register resigned and the county is seeking a replacement.

Register became the county's economic development chief in January 2013, spearheading efforts including a business incubator and an international program to attract foreign firms to the Naples area. Prior to joining Collier County, Register was the corporate business development manager for Hillsborough County, a position he held since 1997.

“I am grateful to Bruce for his efforts in building and developing our economic development program over the past three years,” says Collier County Manager Leo Ochs in a statement.

Most recently, Register assisted Fire Star Gourmet Foods open a facility on Shaw Boulevard in East Naples. Five Star plans to create 250 jobs in the next two years.

“It has been an honor to serve as the director of the office of business and economic development and help it become the thriving office that it is today,” Register says in a statement from the county.
