FORT MYERS — R+L Global Logistics plans to double the size of its operation in Fort Myers and recently moved into larger offices to accommodate the projected growth.

The Ocala-based freight-shipping company plans to hire 80 people in addition to the 88 people it already employs in Fort Myers, according to a statement from Gov. Rick Scott. R+L recently moved from a 9,000-square-foot building on College Parkway in Fort Myers to a new 27,000-square-foot facility in the Island Park Center in South Fort Myers.

“Florida is a leader in global trade and logistics and R+L Global's recent expansion announcement is great news for the Fort Myers region,” says Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Executive Director Jesse Panuccio, in a statement.

R+L recently created a new initiative to hire and train people regardless of their logistics or trucking background. The company's logistics training academy launched in November with 14 new employees who are undergoing eight weeks of training so they can graduate to become full-time employees.

“R+L Global Logistics has experienced incredible success in Florida and worldwide since its creation in 2009,” says Jeff Haungs, vice president of R+L, in a statement.
