Don Paight, who led Fort Myers' redevelopment efforts for the past three decades, has joined commercial real estate brokerage firm CRE Consultants.

As executive director of the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency, Paight was instrumental in spurring nearly $1 billion worth of new private and public investment into the city's downtown redevelopment area.

He also helped shape the city's River District into a sought-after destination.

At CRE Consultants, Paight says he also plans to focus on downtown Fort Myers, at least initially.

“Downtown has made a lot of progress in recent years,” says Paight. “And I hope to continue to be a part of that. I looked at several firms after I retired from the CRA, and I know CRE to be well established and highly regarded within the industry and outside it. I have a lot to learn about brokerage, but there's a lot of support here, too.”

Prior to joining CRE Consultants, Paight received a lifetime achievement award from the Florida Redevelopment Association, a statewide group of redevelopment officials.
