Avalon Document Services, a Syracuse, N.Y.-based document firm that works with law firms and corporations, acquired Tampa-based Southeastern Document Services.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Avalon opened an office earlier this year in Tampa, at 400 North Ashley Drive, and staffed it with 10 employees. The firm plans to combine the SDS and Avalon offices into one location by October, according to a release, and employees are expected to retain their jobs. Ken McKee, former owner of SDS, will remain with the company, as an executive in the legal services division, the release adds.

Avalon is always looking for companies that share a common culture and SDS was a great fit,” Avalon CEO JP Midgley says in the statement. “Like Avalon, they put clients first and do whatever it takes to help their clients solve the complex problems and challenges in litigation today.”

Avalon, founded in 2000, provides eDiscovery, managed services, and traditional litigation support services for clients. SDS does that work, the release states, in addition to other services for law firms, including cyber security, digital forensics and accident reconstruction.
