Tampa among nation's best cities for flipping houses

TAMPA — Last year, there were more than 110,000 house-flipping investors in the United States, the most since 2007, according to a study by personal finance website WalletHub.

For those investors, the average gross profit was $55,000, the study says. WalletHub took a more in-depth look at the statistics to determine the best cities to flip houses in 2016.

On that list, Tampa was the ranked the seventh best city for flipping houses. The cities ahead of it were Sioux Falls, S.D., Fort Wayne, Ind., El Paso, Texas, Oklahoma City, Okla., Lincoln, Neb. and Lubbock, Texas.

A total of 150 cities were ranked in the study. Besides Tampa, 10 other Florida cities were listed as top cities for flipping houses: Cape Coral, Pembroke Pines, Orlando, Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Port St. Lucie, Hialeah and Miami.
