FORT MYERS — Lee County economic development officials named Edison National Bank a winner of its healthy business award in recognition of its commitment to employee wellness.

Fort Myers-based Edison National Bank spends $20,000 a year to pay for wellness programs for its employees, including health assessments and fitness challenges. About 40 employees participate in the wellness program, representing 95% of the bank's staff. The bank won in the small business category.

The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers won in the mid-sized business category and Lee County Electric Cooperative won in the large-business category. Both organizations provide subsidies for personal training and fitness challenges.

The Horizon Council, an economic development group in Lee County, handed out the awards at a workplace wellness summit it hosted recently.
