FORT MYERS — Chico's FAS named former Tampa area executive Shelley Broader president and CEO, replacing David Dyer, who will become vice chairman of the women's retailer.

She also previously served as president and chief operating officer of crafts retailer Michaels and prior to that she engineered the conversion of Kash n' Karry stores to Sweetbay Supermarkets, based in Tampa.

“She brings a remarkable track record, with a global perspective and a keen understanding of how to engage consumers and partner with suppliers to drive profitable growth in a competitive retail environment,” says David Walker, chair of Chico's board of directors, in a statement.

Chico's operates operated 1,548 stores in the U.S. and Canada and sells merchandise through franchise locations in Mexico. The company has four brands: Chico's, White House | Black Market, Soma and Boston Proper.

“The company has made great strides in improving its operating foundation and benefits from a powerful portfolio of brands, each with a unique identity and opportunity for growth,” Broader says in a statement.
