The Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority unanimously elected prominent area homebuilder Carlos Beruff chairman for 2016.

Beruff was originally appointed to the board by Florida Gov. Charlie Christ in December 2008 and was reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott in December 2013, according to a release. He previously served as chair in 2012.

Beruff founded Bradenton-based Medallion Home, which had $68.2 million in sales last year. He currently serves on the Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Manatee Council of Governments, the release adds.

Two other board members were named at the Nov. 16 meeting. They include:
• John Stafford, who will be vice chair. Stafford is the chairman of the board for FCCI Insurance Group in Sarasota.
• Peter Wish, secretary. Wish is past chair and represents the airport on the Sarasota Council of Governments.
