Taylor Morrison executive Steve Kempton, who has run the west Florida division for the national homebuilder for eight years, has been named regional president of Florida for the company.

In the newly created position Kempton will oversee more than 50 new-home communities statewide for the homebuilder, according to a release. Taylor Morrison's west Florida division, under Kempton, expanded to include more than 30 communities and has consistently ranked as one of the company's largest and most successful divisions, the release adds. The division stretches from Tampa to Naples.

Kempton assumed his new role April 1.

“I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to working on a statewide level to grow the Taylor Morrison brand in Florida,” says Kempton in the release.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Taylor Morrison operates under two brands, Taylor Morrison and Darling Homes, and is one of the largest homebuilder in the country. It had $2.7 billion in revenues in 2014.
