PLANS, DESCRIPTION:
Florida Silica Sand Co. purchased 5.21 acres in Woodside Airport Industrial Park for $5.02 million.

The price equated to $963,032 per acre.

Florida Silica Sand has operated from Plant City for several years, but it sold off many of its facilities there two years ago with the sale of its aggregate packing business. That left the company with its brick and paver and abrasives operations in the city. But, with the new land purchase, Florida Silica Sand plans to significantly expand its operations.

The industrial park site will be used to house Florida Silica Sand's abrasives bagging and sorting businesses, which it is relocating from Dania Beach. The company has already constructed an approximately 12,000-square-foot warehouse and office building on the site and has started moving in machinery as well. Dan Stine Construction is the contractor for the project.

“This is about servicing the I-4 corridor, which is a major market for us,” says Jeff Williamson, president of Republic Real Estate Advisors, which handles all Florida Silica Sand's corporate real estate.

The facility is scheduled to be operational in the next 30 to 60 days.
