Politically Personal, a popular non-partisan blog and video website for political news in and around the Sarasota-Manatee region, is expanding under a new name, Politically Unfiltered.

Politically Unfiltered, still through blog posts and videos, will feature personal behind the scenes stories and features about elected officials and candidates for office. Sarasota-based PR firm ThreeSixOh Public Relations, founded by former TV journalist Candice McElyea, oversees Politically Unfiltered. McElyea co-founded Politically Personal in 2012.

“Our articles, interviews and radio shows will present local and statewide politics in a new way - from all angles, incorporating all viewpoints and across multiple digital mediums,” McElyea says in a release.

Politically Unfiltered includes a website and blog focused on local and statewide issues, in addition to candidates and elected officials in Sarasota and Manatee counties. The new brand features three main contributors and hosts: McElyea, whose career includes on-air reporting in Gainesville, Sarasota and Maryland; Christian Ziegler, chairman of the State Committeeman & Committeewoman Caucus and Chairman of the Digital Engagement Committee for the Republican Party of Florida; and Susan Nilon, a political columnist and general manager of WSRQ Radio in Sarasota.

“With a well rounded host lineup, we feel that all angles and viewpoints will be covered while discussing and reporting on the issues important to local voters,” says McElyea, who founded ThreeSixOh Public Relations in 2011.

Politically Unfiltered will also host a weekly political roundtable radio show, Mondays from 4:45 p.m. to 6 p.m., on WSRQ. The show will feature a fourth guest host.
