BONITA SPRINGS — Stevens Construction says it plans to start building a performing arts center and comedy club in Bonita Springs later this spring.

Fort Myers-based Stevens Construction says it will remodel an existing 14,000-square-foot building and add another 3,500 square feet to create the Southwest Florida Performing Arts Center and Off the Hook Comedy Club at 11515 Bonita Beach Road. The value of the project was not disclosed.

The Southwest Florida Performing Arts Center will feature a full kitchen with walk-in cooler and freezer, a lobby, two bars, an outdoor veranda and a podcast cafe with broadcasting center. The performing arts center will also be used as a venue for private events such as weddings, banquets and dances.

The Off the Hook Comedy Club, which will be located inside of the Performing Arts Center, will include a theater, two bars, a stage with tiered seating, and a full-service restaurant.
