This is as close to sunken treasure as many of us will find.

Wicked Dolphin, a rum distillery based in Cape Coral, recently filled five barrels of distilled water and dropped them 90 feet below the surface of the Gulf of Mexico to the USS Mohawk Veterans Memorial Reef off Lee County.

After 72 hours on the bottom the distillery raised the barrels and is using the water to craft a special batch of Sunken Barrel USS Mohawk CGC Reserve. That's enough to make 200 bottles of the limited edition rum, which will cost $39.99 per bottle. It will be available for purchase starting July 2 at Wicked Dolphin's distillery in Cape Coral.

JoAnn Elardo, the entrepreneur who started Wicked Dolphin in 2012, says the proceeds of the sale will go to Lee County's underwater reef program and Special Operations Bionic Warriors, a foundation that helps wounded Special Operations veterans achieve athletic pursuits with coaching and equipment.

We'll take the double shot.
