Olympic-caliber park rows for new operations exec

SARASOTA — The Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Inc., a nonprofit that runs Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, named Nicole Rissler chief operating officer.

Rissler will assist with general operations of the park as well as business development and marketing and communications, according to a release. Nathan Benderson Park, near the Sarasota-Manatee line, has hosted multiple sporting and community events in recent years. USRowing recently announced the park will host the 2016 Olympic rowing trials.

Rissler was most recently director of sports for Visit Sarasota County and the Sarasota County Sports Commission. Rissler has more than a decade of experience in marketing, financial development and community affairs at nonprofits and sports organizations, including positions with Lynn University, The Sarasota YMCA and the American Red Cross.

The Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center manages Nathan Benderson Park for Sarasota County.

“We have been looking for the right candidate for more than a year and are very excited to have Nicole's expertise to lift our organization to future greatness,” SANCA President Paul Blackketter says in a release. “Not only will she be able to sprint into the position, she will be a great addition to our team.”
