CAPE CORAL — Mike Patrick has sold the firm he founded in 1983, Mike Patrick Electric, to his son Todd Patrick.

Todd Patrick and his sister, Joanne Buffum, have been responsible for daily operations at the firm since 1997 and with the acquisition Todd Patrick will have total control of the business, according to a release. Mike Patrick will stay on with the company as a project manager for the commercial services division, while Buffum will pursue a teaching career, the statement adds.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The younger Patrick now plans to expand the Cape Coral-based business. That includes hiring up to 20 employees and adding workspaces and storage areas at the company's headquarters, according to the release. The firm currently has more than 30 licensed electricians who provide electrical repairs, service and new construction installations for commercial, industrial and residential properties from Marco Island to Port Charlotte.

“We continue to be a family-oriented business founded on family values to serve our customers as my father originally intended,” Todd Patrick says in the statement. “Under his guidance over the years, I have learned one of the advantages we have is that our customers appreciate having the company owner's touch on every project.”
