SARASOTA — Girls Inc. of Sarasota County, a nonprofit that helps young women lead independent lives, has named former employee Angie Stringer executive director.

Stringer was most recently the director of major gifts at another area nonprofit, Children First. Stringer will begin her position at Girls Inc. Aug. 31, according to a release. She replaces former executive director Robin Rose.

Stringer has more than 20 years experience in nonprofit management, and has worked in direct program supervision, program development, strategic planning, staff management and fiscal planning, among other tasks. She worked for Girls Inc. from 2003-2007.

“We could not be more pleased to welcome her back at this important time as we embark on new growth initiatives,” Girls Inc. board President Jennifer Compton says in a release. “We know she is the right person to build upon the foundation laid and lead Girls Inc. to the next level as we continue to significantly impact the lives of young girls.”
