BRADENTON — One of the largest senior living communities in the Sarasota-Bradenton region, Freedom Village Bradenton, is getting nearly $4 million in upgrades.

The renovations, according to a release, will bring, “new resort-style elegance to the continuing care retirement community's Phase 1 building.” The project also includes improvements to the Colonial building and The Inn, which is the community's rehabilitation and skilled health care center.

Freedom Village has 746 residences. The community offers memory care, assisted living, independent living and skilled nursing services.

Brentwood, Tenn.-based Brookdale Senior Living operates Freedom Village Bradenton. The company operates more than 1,100 senior living communities in 47 states that can serve at least 111,000 residents.

A joint venture of Brookdale Senior Living Inc. and HCP Inc. acquired Freedom Village in September 2014, part of a deal to buy three senior communities on the Gulf Coast for $123 million. The joint venture paid $53 million for Freedom Village.
