PLANT CITY — Cody Talbert Distribution, a wholesale supplier of parts and accessories for recreational vehicles, plans to move its headquarters from Kissimmee to Plant City in east Hillsborough County.

The firm, according to a release, will hire up to 30 people and make a $200,000 capital investment in the project. The company is also receiving business assistance from the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. and workforce training assistance from Career Source Tampa Bay. Plant City competed against several other Southeast locations for the headquarters, the release adds.

“The relocation of Cody Talbert Distribution is a big win for Plant City and Hillsborough County,” Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp. Chair Ronald Vaughn says in the release. “Their selection of Plant City over other regions that fought for their business speaks volumes about our community's increasing appeal as a headquarters location for fast growing companies.”

Cody Talbert, which also maintains sales and distribution facilities in South Carolina, mostly works with RV dealers, service centers and campgrounds. It currently has 15 employees in Florida, and seeks to hire people for technology and warehouse/distribution jobs in Plant City.

“Plant City offers the perfect location for our headquarters as we embark on our next phase of growth,” Cody Talbert Distribution President Robert Cochran says in the release. “We found the commercial space, talent and business services we need to maximize the development and sales of our products and establish an information technology support center to serve this strategically important, fast-growing division of our organization.”

Adds Cody Talbert Operations Director Kenny Blackmon: “We were extremely impressed with the pro-business approach we received from both the city and county officials. Plant City is a growing area that still maintains its hometown charm. We're excited to be part of the community here.”
