SARASOTA — Internet marketing firm Clickbooth is expanding in Europe, in an office run by the former chief technology officer of in-flight shopping magazine SkyMall.
Dzenis Softic, who oversaw a team of more than 25 developers at SkyMall, was named chief technical officer at Clickbooth, according to a release. He will oversee a nine-employee technology department at the firm's office in Europe, in Banja Luka, Bosnia, the firm adds.
Clickbooth's niche is in cost-per-action Internet advertising, where clients pay for an ad when a customer takes an action, say a purchase. The firm, founded in 2002, agreed to a $2 million settlement with the Federal trade Commission in late 2012 over allegations the company knowingly supported false and unsubstantiated products and claims.
Softic has worked in Web marketing and IT for more than a decade, the release states. “After years of working in affiliate marketing and years in software development, I am happy to put these two parts of my life together by creating the next big thing for Clickbooth and the affiliate industry,” Softic says in the release.
