TAMPA — Commercial real estate firm Avison Young is spearheading a $5 million capital improvement project at Sunforest I, a 107,000-square-foot, three-story office building in Sunforest Business Park.

Home to Bristol-Myers Squibb, the building, at 5130 Eisenhower Blvd., Tampa is being renovated with upgrades to the common areas, landscaping, restrooms and elevator cabs. The work will also create a new parking deck — increasing the parking ratio to seven spaces for every 1,000 square feet — add a new roof and modernize the HVAC controls.

Clay Witherspoon and Lauren Coup of Avison Young are the exclusive leasing agents for the owner, Great Point Investors.

“Previously occupied by Coventry Healthcare for nearly 15 years, this window of vacancy has provided the ownership the opportunity to make the necessary capital upgrades to the building to prepare it for the next 20 plus years,” Witherspoon, principal and managing director of Avison Young's Tampa office, says in a press release.

The lobby, landscaping and roof upgrades are scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter, with the parking deck to be completed by the end of May.

Other tenants in the building include Time of Wonder, a 17,000-square-foot conference center and the Mainsail Apartment Homes, which has a full-service restaurant and fitness center.
