Longboat marina cruises onto top 100 list

LONGBOAT KEY — Boating Industry magazine named Cannons Marina a Top 100 boat dealer in North America, one of two Gulf Coast firms to make the list.

The magazine released the list in an issue last month. The top 20 dealers were ranked, while the remaining 80 were listed in alphabetical order. Quality Boats of Clearwater was ranked 12th on the top 20 list, while Clearwater-based MarineMax won the Best in Class award for marketing.

“For a decade, Boating Industry has recognized the best boat dealers in North America as the Top 100,” Boating Industry Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Sweet says in a statement. “These dealers are truly the elite of the marine industry, recognized for their business acumen, customer service and overall excellence.”

Boating entrepreneur David Miller runs Cannons Marina with his wife Lucile Miller. Cannons Marina has been based on Longboat Key for more than 60 years. “We are very proud of our staff — everyone who works with us at Cannons has had a hand in our success,” David Miller says in the release. “It is nice for a small marina like ours to earn such a distinction from the vast pool of dealers out there.”
