It's a sweet hangover.

The Naples Winter Wine Festival raised more than $12.5 million for children's charities in Collier County and the committee that oversees the grants has awarded the first $3.8 million.
Among the winners:

Collier County will have its first mobile unit for vision exams and prescriptions to help at-risk children. With $1 million over the next three years, needy children will receive two pairs of eyeglasses, one for home and one for school.

Organizations including the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County will receive $1.5 million to provide education programs after school, during the holidays and in the summers. The emphasis will be on providing these services in Immokalee, an agricultural town in east Collier County.

Over three years, a $1.3 million grant will provide 4 million meals to needy children in remote areas of Collier County. In addition, the money will be used to create school-based food pantries.
