NAPLES — The Naples Police Department is investigating the death of prominent developer Jack Antaramian, a visionary who revived the downtown Naples area.

Police officers found Antaramian's body at the Naples Bay Resort at 1:34 p.m. on Monday. “The circumstances surrounding his death do not appear suspicious at this time,” according to a statement from the Naples Police Department, which provided no further details.

Antaramian, 73, is widely credited with reviving downtown Naples' Fifth Avenue corridor and transforming it into an upscale shopping and residential destination. However, the developer suffered financial setbacks through the recession as the real estate market collapsed.

As president of Antaramian Development Corp., Antaramian began his development career in Boston before moving to Southwest Florida.
