If you're traveling by air for the holidays from Tampa or Fort Myers, consider yourself lucky.

The two largest Gulf Coast airports scored among the best of all airports in the country in the annual J.D. Power North Airport Satisfaction Study, confirming what many frequent fliers already know.

Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers tied for first place with Dallas Love Field in the medium-sized airport category. In the large-airport category, Tampa International Airport came in second behind Portland International Airport.

J.D. Power considered six factors for the satisfaction survey, in order of importance: terminal facilities, airport accessibility, security check, baggage claim and terminal shopping. The survey indicated that airports that placed an emphasis on attractive shops, restaurants and seating scored especially well.

So if you're traveling for the holidays and lines seem a little long in Fort Myers or Tampa, remember you could be schlepping through the survey's worst-ranked airports: Cleveland Hopkins International Airport for medium-sized airports and Newark Liberty International Airport for large airports.
