Cash remains king in Sarasota real estate

Cash home sales in the North Port-Sarasota-Manatee region were down 5.9% in September over September 2014, but the region's cash sales, at 47.2%, remain well above the national average, according to data provider CoreLogic.

The national average fell 3.4 percentage points, the CoreLogic report adds, to an average of 32.5%.

Florida overall has a cash sales rate of 45.2%, third highest in the country. The state also has four of the top five regions in the country for cash sales:

4. Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach
5. North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton
