SARASOTA — Mobile marketing firm MobileBits Holdings Corp. named interim CEO Kent Kirschner its permanent chief executive.

The Sarasota-based firm's board approved the decision to elect Kirschner permanent CEO Dec. 3, according to a statement. He was interim CEO following past CEO Hussein Abu Hassan's resignation in November. Abu Hassan remains chairman of the board.

Kirschner has worked in the publishing, digital advertising and social media industries since 1998. Prior to MobileBits, he worked with Neighborhood America to develop an advertising and media business plan for projects such as AMEX and Kodak, the release adds.

Founded in 2009, MobileBits Corp. is behind Samy, a mobile marketing and engagement network. The company has been active in expanding its board in 2015, most recently adding serial software entrepreneur Hazem Bawab.
