Commercial construction rises

FORT MYERS — Lee County posted a 28% increase in the value of commercial construction permits in November compared with the same month one year ago.

The county issued 30 permits valued at $13.3 million last month; the value of permits officials issued in November 2014 totaled $10.4 million.

Meanwhile, Lee County's community development department issued 42 permits for the construction of single-family homes. That compared with 72 issued in the same month one year ago.

In addition, the county permitted a six-unit townhouse, the only multifamily permit in November. Four units were permitted in November 2014.
