TAMPA — Memorial Hospital of Tampa, an HCA West Florida facility, has started a $14 million multiphase hospital expansion and renovation. The project will include the creation of 47 private patient rooms and 18,500 square feet of new surgical space.
Construction has already started and is expected to last about 22 months.
All patient rooms are being renovated. Forty-seven rooms will be made private, and a new concierge service center is being created. The construction will also include renovating the lobby and waiting room amenities.
The surgical space portion of the work will include developing 18 surgical prep and recovery rooms, additional support space and two new operations rooms with shell space for a third.
The hospital says the project will allow it to reduce emergency room and surgical wait times and improve the overall patient and visitor experience.
Memorial Hospital of Tampa is a 183-bed acute-care hospital.
