FORT MYERS — Builders in Lee County pulled about the same number of permits for homes and apartments in July compared with the same month one year ago, data from the Lee County Department of Community Development indicates.

Builders pulled 94 permits for single-family homes in July, according to the data. That compares with 97 single-family home permits in July 2014.

Also in July, contractors pulled 64 multifamily housing permits compared with the 50 in the same month one year ago. Of the 64 units in July, 40 were for Estero Oaks, near the intersection of Estero and Three Oaks parkways.

While growth in building permits appears to be leveling out, summer months are traditionally slower because seasonal buyers are more active in the winter.
