HSN names John Aylward new CMO

ST. PETERSBURG -- John Aylward has joined HSN Inc. as the multichannel retailer's new executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Aylward will be responsible for brand development, integrated and omni-channel marketing and creative content for the channel. Bill Brand will continue as the overall company's CMO and president of the cable channel.

“He is a proven talent with a strong record of achievement across a wide range of consumer-facing brands,” Brand says of Aylward, in a release. “His background will help us build on the momentum we achieved last year, which included record sales and customer growth.”

Aylward's experience includes senior marketing leadership positions with DSW Inc., Starbucks Corp., Gap Inc., and Sony Corp. He started his career with BBH and Grey Advertising in the United Kingdom, before he joined Sony in London as senior manager of marketing communications.

Aylward spent seven years at Gap. He started as a senior brand manager for Gap Europe, and was later the marketing strategy director for Gap North America. Then he was brand director for Gap Europe. He was vice president of marketing for Starbucks' tea division, Teavana, before working as head of marketing for DSW.

HSN trades on the Nasdaq under the symbol HSNI.
