Lee commercial permits rise

FORT MYERS — Commercial construction rose in August as new commercial buildings follow residential growth Lee County.

Contractors pulled commercial permits worth $7.1 million in August in Lee County compared with $2.5 million in the same month one year ago, according to the Lee County Community Development Department.

Homebuilders pulled 85 permits to build single-family homes in Lee County in August, nearly the same as the 88 permits they pulled in August 2013.

Multifamily permits slowed in August as builders pulled 12 permits for attached homes. That compares with the 53 multifamily permits they pulled during the same month one year ago.
