Some people jog after work. Others hit the gym.

Tampa attorney J. Eric 'Tate' Taylor, based on this Oct. 15 picture, likes to take hold of a sledgehammer and pound some walls.

Taylor, chair of the executive board for Trenam Kemker, a law firm with offices in Tampa and St. Petersburg, is whacking for two good causes: The firm's annual United Way fundraising campaign and the first stages of major renovations to the firm's 40,000-square-foot office in the Bank of America Plaza in downtown Tampa. Trenam Kemker renewed its lease in May, and officials with the firm say they plan to develop a collaborative work environment that accommodates a younger workforce.

Trenam Kemker attorneys were required to donate to the campaign for a chance to smash. The firm raised more than $30,000 for the United Way last year, almost $10,000 more than the previous year. “As a part of our ongoing support of United Way,” Taylor says in a statement, “we felt this was a fun way to jumpstart our campaign to meet this year's fundraising goal.”
