SARASOTA — Brad Cox, an executive with the Sarasota office of Thomas D. Wood & Co., one of the largest independently owned commercial mortgage firms in Florida, recently secured $6.83 million in commercial mortgage transactions.

The transactions, according to a release, spread through Florida and Georgia. Deals include:
• A $2 million financing deal for Palm Terrace Professional Plaza, a 28,423-square-foot office building in Fort Myers;
• A $1.75 million deal for a 14,698-square-foot retail plaza in Ocala;
• A $775,00 financing agreement for the Neff Rental Building, a 7,920-square-foot mixed-use facility in Tallahassee
• A $680,000 financing agreement for a 15,200-square-foot retail building in Flowery Branch, Ga.

The Sarasota Thomas D. Wood & Co. office, the release adds, also helped secure financing for the Sun City Inn in Sun City, a $1.57 million deal. Cox, a senior vice president with Thomas D. Wood & Co., says interest rates near 4% have contributed to the streak of successful closings.

Coral Gables-based Thomas D. Wood & Co. was founded in 1974. It has branch offices in Boca Raton, Orlando and Tallahassee, in addition to Sarasota and Tampa.
