Port Manatee earns financial recognition

PALMETTO — The Manatee County Port Authority earned high praise for its governmental accounting and financial reporting for the 21st consecutive year.

The governing body that oversees Port Manatee, the authority received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The nonprofit association uses an “impartial panel of judges to select those reports that meet the highest standards and demonstrate a constructive spirit of full disclosure in clearly communicating the entity's financial story,” the release states.

Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court R.B. 'Chips' Shore received the award on behalf of the port authority. “The fact that we have been recognized for more than two decades with this prestigious honor is a tribute to the longtime dedication to excellence of port management and staff and, in particular, Chips Shore,” Port Manatee Executive Director Carlos Buqueras says in the statement.
