FORT MYERS — The median price of an existing single-family home in Fort Myers rose to $184,175 in October, an increase of 17.3% compared with the same month one year ago.

Realtors helped sell 1,038 homes in the Fort Myers area in October, a 3.8% increase compared with October 2013, according to the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Myers and the Beach.

The supply of single-family home inventory for October was 10.5% lower than this time last year, with a 5.1-month supply, the association reports. In October, active single-family listings were down 11.8% from last year with 5,157 listings.

“Our agents are seeing brighter days, with housing inventory moving quickly and a forecast calling for a season of solid home sales,” says Karen Swanbeck, president of the association, in a statement.
